What is CSWB?

Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) is a collaborative approach that helps communities address the root causes of social issues before they become crises.

CSWB focuses on bringing  community organizations, governments, service providers, and residents to work together in preventing harm, improving quality of life, and creating safer and healthier environments for everyone. It provides a shift away from the traditional siloed and reactionary strategies to address community safety and social issues to a more proactive and multi-sectoral approach.

Why a CSWB approach?

Volunteer Team Meeting
  • Prioritizes prevention by addressing the root causes and risk factors of crime and victimization

  • Emphasizes approaches that result in long-term improvements over short-term fixes

  • Facilitates collaboration across human services sectors to break down silos and guides partners to work together to achieve common goals

  • Helps reduce reliance on law enforcement and emergency responders to deal with issues that are outside of their mandates
